Developing High Performance Teams

Description

Developing a high performance team is critical for the success of all who have people reporting into them. This workshop has been designed to look at the areas to effective team working and the leader's role within that. It provides an understanding of the basis of teams, team roles and team dynamics, and how these factors can be successfully managed to achieve the best results. During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to practise many of the techniques introduced, and develop a strategy for developing their teams back at work.

Team leaders, Supervisors and Managers who are responsible for developing and motivating their team members.

Course content

  • Team working: Understanding what we mean by the term "team". What makes a team effective? What are some of the advantages and disadvantages of team working?
  • Team Development: How a team develops, what is important in the stages of development, understanding the development stages and the challenges for leaders in addressing the needs of the team.
  • Team Effectiveness: What makes a team effective? The importance of goal and objective setting for the team and the individual.
  • Team Roles: Identifying the roles individuals play in team environments. Assessing the strengths and weaknesses of each team type. (Belbins Team Roles)
  • Team Leadership: Understanding your own leadership style and how this can be developed. The role of motivation and delegation in building team effectiveness.
  • Action Planning: What have you learned? How can you put your new knowledge into action?
